As an artist, what role do you think G-Dinkas has to play in the re-birth and the growth of a new South Sudan?
I believe that all of us, the youth, we each have roles to play in the re-birth of our nation. For G-Dinkas, we are the voice of the truth, ambassadors for peace unity, love, and togetherness among our people living abroad.
Generally, what do you consider to be the central message in your songs?
The future begins with us. Stop the hate and spread the love. #SouthSudanWeOne. Peace, love and togetherness among all mankind. We believe that our rich history and cultural diversity makes us better together.
And why do you think this message is important to the people of South Sudan at home and abroad at this moment in the country’s history?
South Sudanese people have been fighting for over 50 years. This has mostly been in defense of our rich history, culture beliefs, and our national identity as members of the South Sudanese community. This is the time, with all that is going on at home, for us to understand that any country that doesn’t embrace peace; unity, love, and togetherness for her citizens tend to stay behind.
Be it back at home, or among the South Sudanese communities abroad, who are you targeting with your music?
G-Dinkas believe that music has no boundaries. We are a very versatile music group and our music speaks to a lot of people including the young and old, or those at home while at the same time relevant to those abroad.
What have you been working on lately? And in general, what should people expect from you, in terms of music in 2019?
We are always on the clock, writing new music, working on shooting new music videos, also hitting the studios to record a brand new album. Currently, our music catalogue stands at 89 songs recorded or written. In terms of G-Dinkas 2019 projects: Right now we are working on releasing these four tracks: 1) #IT’S #NOT #FREE 2) GAM #KU #DOOR Meaning let’s except the peace... 3) #AYOK #KOC #TEN Meaning she was standing there. 4) #ROOL#JAL #BEN Meaning the men of nowadays.
What can you say, to the youth of South Sudan?
G-Dinkas is all about positive influences; our massage to the youth of South Sudan is this: No one is in charge of your destiny. We have been living side by side for all of these decades, let’s keep doing so, and work hard. Only by working hard will you get ahead in life. We need each other. Love your neighbour just like you love yourself. Be loyal to your nation just like you are loyal to your wife. Put your country first and love her people.
